‘Scars of Days Forgotten Series’ by Natalie J. Reddy

Rating: 3 out of 5.

“Scars remind us that we are survivors. They show that we have gone through something and that we haven’t let that pain defeat us or define us.”

Natalie Reddy writes Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance for both Adult and Young Adult readers. Full disclosure, Natalie is friends with my daughter who has read her books and found them so compelling she couldn’t get off the couch once she started one. Considering Natalie is self published, I am impressed with the calibre of her writing.

This is definitely not my favourite genre, especially when there are shape shifters, werewolves, and vampires involved, but her writing is effortless to read, has a contemporary fresh feel, and is set in Toronto! So if Urban Fantasy is your go-to, I’d highly recommend it. If you liked The Hunger Games or Divergent, these might be right for you. So far there are three instalments with a fourth coming out in November called Deadly Scars. The books are very reasonably priced in ebook format (Kindle and Kobo), and are now becoming available in paperback.

There’s more going on in the world than we humans are aware of. When Wren is kidnapped by people who can read minds, she is swept into a world where Psi factions are at war and it’s hard to know who can be trusted. Psi are a higher evolved species who have various supernatural abilities even though they appear to be human. The Council and The Resistance are opposing Psi political groups and it’s hard for Wren to know where she belongs in a dangerous situation. There’s also a love triangle which keeps things interesting and each book focuses loosely on a different character’s point of view. No one is safe and nothing is as it seems.
