‘Losing You’ by Nicci French

Rating: 3 out of 5.

This standalone thriller from a husband and wife writing team (Nicci Gerrard & Sean French), was entertaining to listen to on audio (narrated by Imogene Church). The mother in this story is relentless in her quest to find her missing daughter, taking things into her own hands, much to the annoyance of the local police (and my husband who was listening with me in the car). 🙂 There are plenty of twists and turns in the tale and I found the mother’s dedication and persistence still made for a compelling story.

Single Mom Nina Landry is eager to go on a Christmas holiday with her new boyfriend and two children when things go horribly wrong on the day they plan to head to the airport. Her 15-year-old daughter didn’t come home last night and appears to be missing. Did Charlie run away or did something more sinister happen? Why will nobody take her disappearance seriously and why are the police taking so long to get to the truth?

I’ve enjoyed many books by this author team, most particularly the Frieda Klein series which starts with Blue Monday and another stand alone called The Lying Room.

Losing You was a very fast read! I found myself very tense and worried about this mother’s dilemma. Well -written and fast paced until the very end. The only criticism I have is that the resolution appears suddenly and very quickly. I would also have liked to know more ….
    Thanks for your recommendation.
