‘Vinyl Cafe Diaries’ by Stuart McLean

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Master storyteller, Canadian icon, and legend Stuart McLean did not disappoint in this entertaining book of hilarious homey stories about Dave and Morley and their kids. His books are a Canadian institution, and there are many of them.

The adventures are about ordinary everyday sorts of things but the effect is endearing and often laugh-out-loud funny. Warning: try not to read on the subway or in your living room with your kin–you will have others annoyed and wondering what you are chuckling about!! Best to listen together so you can all share in the fun.

I can hear Stuart McLean’s familiar voice from listening to the radio on Sunday mornings driving home from church. Can you?

  1. I see you’re reading “We Begin at the End”. It came highly recommended to me, but I had a different response than my friend did. I’ll be fascinated to see what you think of it!

    • Hi Laura, Yes this book really seems to be ‘out there’ and a lot of people are saying it’s a must-read. I’m only a quarter of the way in and am definitely hooked, but it took the first 70 pages or so to get me there. The writing style is something to get used to. Will keep you posted!
