‘Friday on my Mind’ by Nicci French (Frieda Klein # 5)

Rating: 4 out of 5.

“Even when she’s in trouble herself, she makes the world seem safer.”

This series, written by a husband and wife team (Nicci Gerrard and Sean French), just keeps getting better and the tension continues to ramp up.

Psychotherapist Frieda Klein is an endlessly fascinating character and in this book she certainly is in a lot of trouble herself! She becomes the prime suspect when a bloated corpse turns up in the Thames, throat slashed, and the only clue is a hospital wristband reading Dr. F. Klein. Frieda is taken to see the body and realises with horror that it is her ex-boyfriend. She is certain that the killer is Dean Reeve–the man who has never stopped haunting and stalking her, but who remains elusive. The police think he is dead and won’t listen to her. As always, Frieda has to rely on her own ingenuity and find a way to both save herself and uncover the truth. This one ends with a shocker! 😮

These well written books are as addictive and suspenseful as a crime series on Netflix. It is important to read them in order because the series has some threads running through it and because the character of Klein is better understood by knowing her background.

I am waiting for an opportunity to binge and gobble up the remaining three instalments, finishing the days of the week in addition to the finale. Books in order list: click here.
